"Beloved doorman" gets fired on his day off, building management accidentally removes his access along with everyone else's in the building: 'His work ethic was too good for this place either way'

Everyone has come across an overly qualified person in the workplace, someone who clearly deserves to be given more responsibility (and more money), given how strong and consistent their work ethic has proven to be. In this instance, a beloved doorman in a luxury building seemed to go above and beyond what he was expected and required to do, and was taken for granted by management. When they ultimately fired him for essentially being too good at his job, the doorman was able to gain the sympathy and support of the vast majority of the building's residents. Let's just say that management would end up regretting their decision soon thereafter, but not before some more drama.

After they dismissed the doorman for accepting a tip from a resident in the building, management needed to remove his access code. However, in doing so, they accidentally removed the code not just for the former employee but also for the entire building (staff, management, and residents included). It just goes to show that everyone else on staff didn't exactly share the competence and execution skills of this doorman, which is why the residents all came to his defense following his unjust dismissal. 

Let this story serve as a reminder that management does not always act in the greatest interests of the company, or in this case, the building. Unfortunately, these folks often act from a place of insecurity. Clearly, these property managers were threatened by how great the doorman was at his job and how much he over-performed on a regular basis. It got to the point where they felt that their own jobs were at risk the longer he stayed in the building.
